Agentics Companion · Desktop Surface

Your wallpaper is alive.

The Companion is not a program you open, use, and close. It runs as your desktop. It replaces your wallpaper, floats above every other window with configurable opacity, and turns your entire desktop background into a live, voice-driven canvas controlled by the Orb.

One install. Everything else follows.

Install the Companion once.

The Companion is the single thing you download. It installs once per machine, runs quietly in the background, and from then on it is the gateway to the entire Agentics ecosystem. Every other surface, the Terminal Orb, Studio, the browser extension, the on-device speech engine, arrives through the Companion's own installer, fetched and managed securely. You never hunt for a second download again.

  • Step one — download and install the Companion for macOS, Windows or Linux
  • Step two — open it, sign in once, and authorise this device for every channel
  • Step three — pick what you want from the in-app library and it installs itself

Not an app. A surface.

Your desktop, as the canvas.

Every other AI client lives inside a window. The Companion lives on the wallpaper itself. The Orb renders directly onto your macOS, Windows, or Linux background, with a configurable opacity layer floating above the wallpaper and beneath your open windows. There is no chrome to open. There is no tab to lose. The AI is already on screen the moment you log in.

  • Native binaries for macOS, Windows, and Linux, built on Go and Wails
  • Renders the live 1100 particle Orb directly onto the desktop wallpaper layer
  • Configurable opacity for the floating layer above the wallpaper, beneath open windows
  • Open source for Linux power users, free for all three platforms

agent grid
The PowerBoard

A grid of tiles, across your wallpaper.

The Companion is the host for the PowerBoard, a grid of agent driven tiles arranged across the wallpaper. Wallet balance, deployment status, NRN search, model latency, task queue, calendar, music, system metrics, every primitive Agentics ships, every live data source you wire in, all rendered as draggable tiles directly on your desktop background.

  • Drag and snap tiles onto any region of the wallpaper grid
  • Live telemetry: ZAR wallet, deploys, builds, payouts, affiliate chain
  • Tasks pulled from Taskman with claim, hand off, complete actions
  • Custom tiles via the AEP (Agentics Event Protocol) broadcast layer
Chromatic linking

Pair your phone without the internet.

The Companion pairs to the Agentics mobile app two ways. The boring way is a QR code: scan, you are linked. The other way is chromatic flicker, an optical handshake where the desktop emits a coded colour sequence and the phone camera reads it back, establishing a paired session over a persistent WebSocket without ever leaving the local network. No internet round trip. No third party broker. Nobody else ships this.

  • QR pairing for normal conditions
  • Chromatic flicker pairing for environments without internet or with hostile networks
  • Persistent WebSocket between paired devices, audio levels stream both ways
  • One auth, one wallet, one Orb session across phone and desktop

sandboxed dispatch
Sandboxed task dispatch

Speak from the phone. Execute on the desktop.

Once paired, the phone becomes a remote control for system level work on the desktop. Ask the Orb on your phone to rename every file in Downloads to lowercase, organise a folder, run a build script, edit code, perform a directory diff, and the request lands on the desktop Companion in a sandboxed runner. Results stream back to the phone in real time. You can dispatch work from a walk and watch it finish before you get home.

  • System level tasks: file rename, directory organisation, script execution, code edits
  • Sandboxed runner: every dispatched task is isolated and revocable from the phone
  • Results stream back to mobile over the same WebSocket in real time
  • Same Orb personality and memory across both surfaces
AEP

External agents, on your wallpaper.

The Agentics Event Protocol is a broadcast layer for external agents to publish onto a paired desktop. Your trading bot, your CI pipeline, your home automation, your scheduler, anything you can wire to AEP can render a tile on the PowerBoard, update it in real time, and listen for clicks back. Your wallpaper becomes the universal dashboard.

  • Broadcast tiles, status, progress, alerts to a paired desktop
  • Bidirectional: tiles can listen for user clicks and respond
  • Same auth boundary as the rest of the Companion, never leaves the paired session
  • Reference clients in Go, Node, Python, Bash, and Rust
